We're Home!!

Well, we're home!! The doctor wants us to check in tomorrow to report on how David is doing and we are supposed to go in on Monday but David is home and that's what's important. He's doing ok, but you can still tell that he doesn't feel that great.

Thanks for all your prayers!! We couldn't have done it without you!

David might go home tomorrow

Well, our pediatrician came today and said that he thinks that the meningitis might be viral which would be good. If so, we will be able to go home tomorrow. I guess we still have to wait for the cultures to tell us, but it's looking good. David's temperature has been lower than 100 for a day or so. Everything's looking good so far.

Laura nad her mom have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House located here in the hospital. It's really cool because they offer the parents of kids in the ICU a place to stay and to not feel like they are in the Hospital anymore. While it doesn't take away the concern, having a good night's sleep and fresh cookies sure take the edge off.

Contact information while in the hospital

Ok, while we are in the Hospital with David, you can try and call us on out cell phones. We have to keep the phones turned off if we are in the NICU so here's the number that you can call to try and reach us there:

832-826-4813

That's the bedside phone in David's room in the NICU. It doesn't ring, but it has a light on it that flashes so let it ring for a while to give us a chance to see it and answer. If you still can't get a hold of us, just leave either Laura or me a message on our cells and we'll call you back.

I'll update the blog just as soon as I know anything new.

Thanks again for all your prayers!

Pray for David

I'm writing this post from the waiting area outside the NICU of Texas Children's Hospital. David was admitted here tonight after being diagnosed with meningitis. We don't know if it's bacterial or viral but odds are it's viral. We'll know in a few days. He is doing ok, except hes tired of people prodding and poking at him. I'm sure he just wants to sleep.

He doesn't have many of the symptoms that babies with meningitis have. He's basically fussy and has been running a fever. It got up to 102.4 or so tonight but it's been around 100.4 more recently.

He have faith that God is taking care of him, but we still need your prayers. It's been rough on Laura and she really needs to find a way to get a good night's rest after all this today.

Thanks! And I'll keep you updated!

It's Friday

I do love Fridays! This weekend, my dad is coming in to see David for the first time. He'll only be here for a day, but at least he'll get to see him. :) I also have to go to a tutorial on Saturday monring for my test and interview to be certified as a minister with the Assemblies of God church. The test will take place on Thursday, Oct 9th. It's a little nerve-wracking but I'm sure everything will be fine.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I'm also leading the Communion service for my church on Sunday. I can't wait. :)

Choppin Trees

I spend a couple of hours chopping up some trees that fell during the hurricane, and I am going to spend some time today doing it as well. There's one thing I've learned from all of this... I will never be a lumberjack.

Things Are Getting Back To Normal

So I have cable and internet now! :) I don't know how I survived. Laura and David will be coming home today. As soon as I can chop up the trees outside that fell during the storm, things will be pretty much back to business as usual.

Traffic is terrible though. With the extra work crews that are around Houston and the traffic lights that still don't have power, getting to work takes an extra 20-30 minutes. That's added onto a normal 15 minute drive. Good thing I work so close to home!

Restless at Work!

Argh! There's so much stuff that needs to be done! I could be helping people, or I could be home cleaning up the mess left by Ike, but no, I'm here at work not doing anything. I don't even have anything to do! Grrrrr.

Ike Update

Here's some pics of the house. It wasn't actually too bad and we have power! I just need to get the chainsaw out and start chopping wood. One oak and one pear tree. I think I can bbq with pear wood. ;)

Leaving because of Ike

We're going to San Antonio to get out of the way of Hurricane Ike. If you can't get a hold of us, it's because we're on the road.
