We're Home!!
Well, we're home!! The doctor wants us to check in tomorrow to report on how David is doing and we are supposed to go in on Monday but David is home and that's what's important. He's doing ok, but you can still tell that he doesn't feel that great.

David might go home tomorrow
Well, our pediatrician came today and said that he thinks that the meningitis might be viral which would be good. If so, we will be able to go home tomorrow. I guess we still have to wait for the cultures to tell us, but it's looking good. David's temperature has been lower than 100 for a day or so. Everything's looking good so far.
Laura nad her mom have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House located here in the hospital. It's really cool because they offer the parents of kids in the ICU a place to stay and to not feel like they are in the Hospital anymore. While it doesn't take away the concern, having a good night's sleep and fresh cookies sure take the edge off.

Contact information while in the hospital
Ok, while we are in the Hospital with David, you can try and call us on out cell phones. We have to keep the phones turned off if we are in the NICU so here's the number that you can call to try and reach us there:
832-826-4813
That's the bedside phone in David's room in the NICU. It doesn't ring, but it has a light on it that flashes so let it ring for a while to give us a chance to see it and answer. If you still can't get a hold of us, just leave either Laura or me a message on our cells and we'll call you back.
I'll update the blog just as soon as I know anything new.
Thanks again for all your prayers!
Pray for David
I'm writing this post from the waiting area outside the NICU of Texas Children's Hospital. David was admitted here tonight after being diagnosed with meningitis. We don't know if it's bacterial or viral but odds are it's viral. We'll know in a few days. He is doing ok, except hes tired of people prodding and poking at him. I'm sure he just wants to sleep.
He doesn't have many of the symptoms that babies with meningitis have. He's basically fussy and has been running a fever. It got up to 102.4 or so tonight but it's been around 100.4 more recently.
He have faith that God is taking care of him, but we still need your prayers. It's been rough on Laura and she really needs to find a way to get a good night's rest after all this today.
Thanks! And I'll keep you updated!

It's Friday
I do love Fridays! This weekend, my dad is coming in to see David for the first time. He'll only be here for a day, but at least he'll get to see him. :) I also have to go to a tutorial on Saturday monring for my test and interview to be certified as a minister with the Assemblies of God church. The test will take place on Thursday, Oct 9th. It's a little nerve-wracking but I'm sure everything will be fine.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I'm also leading the Communion service for my church on Sunday. I can't wait. :)

Choppin Trees
I spend a couple of hours chopping up some trees that fell during the hurricane, and I am going to spend some time today doing it as well. There's one thing I've learned from all of this... I will never be a lumberjack.

Things Are Getting Back To Normal
So I have cable and internet now! :) I don't know how I survived. Laura and David will be coming home today. As soon as I can chop up the trees outside that fell during the storm, things will be pretty much back to business as usual.
Traffic is terrible though. With the extra work crews that are around Houston and the traffic lights that still don't have power, getting to work takes an extra 20-30 minutes. That's added onto a normal 15 minute drive. Good thing I work so close to home!

Restless at Work!
Argh! There's so much stuff that needs to be done! I could be helping people, or I could be home cleaning up the mess left by Ike, but no, I'm here at work not doing anything. I don't even have anything to do! Grrrrr.

Courtney was Christened
Ashley Rocha and Courtney Whitmire came by tonight to see David and most importantly give us food!! :-D Thanks Ashley and Courtney!! They also brought us a cute blanket with David's first and middle name monogrammed on it. It's so cute!
Here are some pictures from when they came over but the best one is the bottom where Courtney is showing off where David spit up all over her! Sorry Courtney! ;)

New shutterfly site for David pics
Laura here for my first post (because the other one, if you noticed, was Brian logged into the wrong account ;-) ). I just wanted to give everyone the address to the shutterfly page I created for David.
I will be sure to keep it updated with all sorts of pictures, so check it often!

Merryweather likes him
Here's a cute pic of Merryweather with David. She gets a little jealous of the attention that he gets, but she really likes him. Just like how she gets up close to us and cuddles next to us when we're on the couch, she does the same to David. Of course in this pic, it doesn't look like he likes her too much. ;-)

David's first night out!
Well, we know what all the books say about leaving your child inside the house for the first 4-6 weeks but Laura REALLY needed to get out of the house. So we all went out to Texas Land and Cattle. David seemed to like the new surroundings for a little bit. New noises, smells, lights, and all that. If you know our family, then you know that he better get used to eating out!

Momma Snacks stopped by!
Momma Snacks (and Pappa Snacks) stopped by today. They are better known as Rhonda and Dick Hoover. They were so nice and brought us some food today. Yum!
My first day at work was today, it was good. I didn't do anything and they had free food, so you can't beat that. ;) Laura's still feeling better too as well.
Here's David's pic of the day with Mamma Snacks:

Last day at work tomorrow
It's my last day at work tomorrow! I'm going to start at CheckFree on Monday. The people seem really nice and the pay is better, plus it's closer to my house, I get more vacation, and the insurance is about 1/4 of the cost at my current job. So it's an all around win for me! :)
Laura still needs your prayers. This has been the most physically and emotionally demanding thing that Laura has gone through and she's having a tough time coping. Pray for her.

Doctor said he was "Perfect"
David had his first Doctor's appointment today and he said that David was "Perfect." Now the Doctor is an aggy but still, I'll take the compliment. ;)
Laura is still having a rough time recovering. Please pray for her.
David enjoyed looking at his cookie bouquet that our church sent us. Well, he didn't care but it was cute anyway. ;)
Merryweather has been a pretty good big sister too. Here, she's keeping a blanket warm for David.
Figuring it all out
Well, Laura had a rough night last night but she's feeling a little better. We're praying that she feels a LOT better tomorrow. I told my work today that I am leaving on Friday. I start my new job on Monday and couldn't be more excited!
As for David, He's just doing great. He's one hungry little man too! :)
Here's David's pic of the day:
That's David with his big cousin Nicolas. He's going to teach David all about Star Wars. As if we wouldn't. ;)

We're Home!!
Well, we made it home finally! In what seemed to be weeks, we spent three nights in the Hospital. Laura was doing ok, but tonight, she has just pretty much shut down. We're praying for a speedy recovery and for strength for her.
Going home... soon.
David gave us a little scare last night. His lips were turning a bit blue at some points so they put him into the NICU level II. That's basically just where they observe him and keep him warm.
Long story short, he has just been getting a little less oxygen than he needs but the doctors say that he's looking good and we're still planning on coming home today at some point.
So again, prayers would be appreciated.

Puffy doesn't want to come out.
So apparently, our unborn son (whom we've named 'puffy' at the time being) doesn't want to face the cruel realities of the world. He's now 5 days past due and there's no sign that he's coming out.
Pray that he decides to grace us with his presence soon!
